C/SHIP: Darebin Announces 2008 Committee
DAREBIN ANNOUNCE NEW COMMITTEE FOR 2008
The Darebin Giants have recently announced a new chairman and committee line-up at their Annual General Meeting last week.
Robert Allen, who has assumed the chair for the past 5 years, will hand over the reigns to past club manager and now managing chairman, James Osenaris.
This move allows Mr. Allen to focus more in his role as Darebin Basketball Association President, but furthermore brings to light a fantastic tenure that he has had as Championship Chairman.
At the annual club presentation night, Mr. Allen thanked players, parents and most importantly the committee for his time at the head of the championship program.
Osenaris becomes the youngest chairman in association history (23 years) and is very excited about the future of the Darebin Championship Program.
I am extremely privileged and honoured to take over the chair in a program that has come so far over the past 5 years. I would like to thank Rob Allen for his time, commitment and dedication to the championship program. I also look forward to continued work with him at association level.
Osenaris also announced some key areas that will be focused on in 2008 and beyond. We will ensure that we continue to develop good relationships with the league by hosting and assisting them with state level events, while also continuing to push the elite message at the club, and have players and teams being represented at the highest level in Victoria.
The final committee lineup as ratified at the AGM is:
Vice Chairman Mark Sabbadini Secretary Joanne Gillard
Program Coordinator Faye Gibson Training Coordinator Christine Sofos
Uniform Coordinator Laura Divito
General Committee Robert Allen, Michael Goulimis, Helen Kelaiditis, Grahame Nash, Colin Meredith
Osenaris welcomed the committee with much appreciation.
Darebin is a unique club in that we are run entirely by volunteers, all the people that join me on the committee have full time jobs and careers like myself, so I thank them again for their continued support in the development of the club.
The committee is now hard at work preparing for the 2008 season.
